The specialized knowledge reflected in Brenau’s graduate courses in early childhood takes into account immediate experiences for the developing child as well as long-term learning. Program requirements include 34 semester hours divided into six components. The program’s capstone activity is either a comprehensive exam or an applied research project. In addition to Brenau University’s SACS accreditation, this program is also accredited by the School of Education’s NCATE (National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education) accreditation. This accreditation covers initial teacher preparation programs and advanced educator preparation programs. NCATE is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation to accredit programs for the preparation of teachers and other professional school personnel.
